This is probably one of the most popular activities I have done. It is another easy to do at home and one that is suitable from toddlers to grow ups!
You will need:
An electric hand whisk
2 tablespoons of washing up liquid or bubble bath
1/2 teaspoon cornflour (optional but helps with the stiffness)
Food colouring
1/4 cup water
To make:
Put all the ingredients into a bowl and using the whisk, whisk on high speed until you have a foam with stiff peaks, a bit like when you whip cream. If it is too watery, add a bit more cornflour.
If your child is likely to rub their eyes, it is probably best to use a 'tear free' bubble bath instead of washing up liquid.
My kids had great fun playing 'ice-cream cafes' with the foam, using a scoop and scooping each colour into a bowl and using their outdoor play kitchen to serve it.
If you don't have food colouring it doesn't matter as it will still be great as a sensory activity. If you do have several colours, make a batch of each colour and then add them to a large tub together.
I have heard of parents making some up with bubble bath to add to their child's bath too!
You could hide objects in the foam for your child to find and add scents like peppermint, lemon, lime or vanilla for a lovely smell experience.
And once the kids have finished playing, you are just left with soap and water so it is easy to clean up too!
