Ella's easy hummus

My daughter Ella loves helping out in the kitchen and loves hummus so we make it together often.

I've called this Ella's easy hummus because it is a very basic recipe that she has tweaked to suit her taste.


  • 1 400g can cooked chickpeas, drained but keeping the liquid.

  • Juice of half a lemon

  • 1 tsp tahini

  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed (We like it garlicky, add less if you don't!)

  • 3 tbsp olive oil


  • Blitz all the ingredients ,except the drained liquid and olive oil, together in a blender, until smooth.

  • Drizzle in the oil a little at a time and keep blitzing until it is all mixed in.

  • If the hummus seems too thick, add some of the retained liquid from the can and mix well until you have the required consistency.

Serve with pitta chips, veggie or breadsticks.
